Announcers, imo, their job isn't just to announce what is happening, but to analyze and comment on the strategies behind them, and in some cases even to entertain. Analyzing and strategizing isn't easy for a inexperienced person, which is why most successful announcers are former players in whatever sport they are commenting on. For a video game, however, that's definitely not easy to find, hence the announcers usually aren't very good.

in ur case about fighting games i say announcers are useless....too much action to call the thing move by move.....but hey...every good sport/competition has them so why not....maybe its a lil funny in Japanese????
-
even if it's a video game it is still a game. it can't be helped especially during special events like this one. ever watched SBO vids? that guy's voice is even more annoying than this one but the point is whether you like it or not, announcers try to make the game "exciting".
the same goes to korean starcraft videos. the announcers' knowledge and enthusiasm about the game is off the charts :)

we're talking about a video game here...if the person was english it wouldn't make a difference, it'll still be friggin annoying. I don't need some retard talking when i'm watching it myself, like i said it would be extremely rare to see a blind guy listening to video games. The announcers are good for nothing especially the ones that talk too much. Few announcers are tolerable

wtf good are announcers in any sport???? especially WWE...maybe if we understood the announcer it might make it more exciting...since u dont it sounds annoying...and yes it kinda does but ohh well im not really paying attention to it anyways

So, Shonen is as much of a beast in this as he is in GG.
This is the first time I've seen one of his fights recorded for BlazBlue, I had a strange feeling that he would use Litchi...
-
does Ogawa from Guilty Gear play BB? man im sure he can be a beast with Carl since he has a similar fighting style like Eddie
-
Shonen's Litchi sure plays strangely... but in the end some of those mixups were creative to say the least.
I would hate to get stuck in the corner against Shonen after watching that pressure between 5:20 - 5:50
