anyone have this in the US? will the blue-ray work on a US-spec PS3? I noticed only the UK was listed under English-language and they use PAL rather than NTSC...

PAL or NTSC difference is for films on DVD only. HD films (Blu-ray) is an international format and works everywhere. The film (Blu-ray version) works on PS3 too.
