The new 911 : development of Porsche identity

Dans cette vidéo, Porsche explique que le passé façonne l'avenir et que son nom s'est forgé sur les routes et les circuits du monde entier. C'est surtout un hommage à la 911, décrite comme incarnant l'identité de la firme de Zuffenhausen. Une chose dont nous ne doutions absolument pas.

@goglesux That's because like Lotus and TVR, Porsche chooses rather than adapt or start over from the ground up, to perfect a process. And whereas the Beetle's styling was coincidental, the Porsche's is nescessary for the rear-engine layout to remain functional- they can't make it look different. You can make a beetle look different and it won't make a lick of difference in it's performance (ie; Baja, rat rod, etc.)

actualy 2cv has way less common with the veyron than the 911 and the bug.

i get what you mean, but your example is not quite right.

bug and 911 have loads of common features, not to mention the similar styling.

same concept.

and hard to argue that 911 models don't really change that mutch.

That's like saying the Citroën 2CV has something to do with the Bugatti Veyron because they both have a French badge, four wheels, and a steering wheel.

I dig Clarkson, but he's tongue-in-cheek, above all an entertainer, get it? If the Porsche 911 was a VW Beetle, then it would struggle to do 100mph, would have an awful drag coëfficient, would sound like Elvis on the can, and be as robust as a tin can. It is none of those things.
