The Promise Ring / Athens, GA '97 / Cherry Coke + Everywhere in Denver

To celebrate The Promise Ring getting back together ( http://www.billboard.com/news/the-promise-ring-plotting-more-reunion-gigs-100... ), I thought I'd publish for the first time ever some video I've had in a box for 14 years!

I also submit this as a gesture of hope that Washington DC is on the list of cities for the mini-reunion tour!

I taped this on October 14, 1997, when I was a freshman in college in Athens, GA. It was a house show, a venue called The Ultramod Compound, run by the great Gordon Lamb (@GordonLamb). I was 18. Now I'm 33! Not sure how that happened so fast.

The night also marked the first time I saw Michael Stipe in Athens; he and Andrew Rieger of Elf Power were in attendance.




Important disclaimer: the audio on the original tape is basically worthless. My hi8 camcorder of the day was totally blown out by the sound, over-modulated x 1,000.

To salvage it, I synced the video with the album version of the songs. It's imperfect but I did what I could (I had to slow the video down, to varying degrees, in different parts).

I have a few other songs from this night I'll get up someday (B is for Bethlehem, Picture Postcard, etc).
