Unless you don't flush it like people should be doing... Then it could of also have been a cloged radiator... But that mechanic is a good obervation seeing the fan clutch not engaging :)... Happy you got it fixed :)...

very helpful, the old clutch fan was alittle tough to get out the water pump kept
spinning and was pretty much froze together, had to get down and dirty to get them apart. Also the clutch fan i got was from auto zone an after market part and it sounds like a airplane is taking off so my advice is to pay the extra money and get the part fron the dealer thanks again

I have 04 Durango with 4.7 AWD.When I am pulling my Motocycle trailer up long hill it wants to over heat.If I turn heater on it keep cools in the safe range.I changed thep therostac and raditor cap.
pulling load going up long hill is the only promblem.Hate to replace water pump or clutch fan if that not the issue. Also it not exchanging with the side overflow tank.
Thanks

Thanks got a 2000 Dodge Dakota that wife says is overheating good pointers can't wait to tackle the problem.
Thanks for the comment...The new fan is pushing more air through the radiator and will make a howling noise especially when it is cold. My fan was purchased from a local parts store. As long as the temperature stays in the normal range, you should be in good shape. Good Luck!
