Robert O. Wilson,the only US surgeon in Nanking at the time witnessed in IMTFE and stated that before the Nanking incident the population of Nanking was generally more than 1 million. Just before Japanese occupation the number dropped to just less than half a million civilian.

I think we must also add the figure of Chinese soldiers guarding Nanking, refugee coming form the Yangtze delta region, injured soldiers from Shanghai battle. A total of more than 600,000.

@Thak11 When Japanese army entered into Nanking castle(13,Dec.1937), the population of Nanking was maximum 200,000. It was reported by 'International Committee of the Nanking Safty Zone'. Durdin reported "150,000 people", U.S. LIFE magazine reported "150,000 people" and Chicago Dailynews reported "100,000 civilians".

China claims massacre happened 'WITHIN' the Nanking castle (not whole Nanking city). But in fact, population increased during occupation by Japanese. ???

(Part2)Therefore, Mr. Fukuda protested to them many times. In fact, Mr. Fukuda went to check the Japanese crime scene which was reported a robbery by a Chinese guy, there was no people, no broken and no any noise. The Nanking Massacre was created by China for propaganda. The propaganda is still ongoing!

■(Part1)A Japanese whose name was Tokuyasu Fukuda, he was Japanese embassy staff, visited to the committee, he was surprised at the situation because John Magee and George Ashmore Fitch was writing reports, which were reported by some Chinese young guys. The guys rushed into the committee office, and they told, “Japanese soldiers were raping women”, and “Japanese soldiers were seizing commodities from Chinese family”. John Magee and George Ashmore Fitch typed the stories without any inspection.

March 8, 1938 Lewis Smythe wrote to his wife : " The Japanese (stated) that they have found eleven Chinese armed robbers who were no blame for it all ! Well if they each raped from 100 to 200 women per night and day for two weeks and got away with the reported $50,000 they were pretty powerful Chinese."

End of March 1938 Nanking population was 270,000 or 250,0000. This figure was the remaining population after the great massacre of about 350,000 people. Just simple maths.

(Part2)Smythe investigated the population with the help of many Chinese staffs on February 1938. He wrote a report which shows the population of Nanking was 250,000 or 270,000 as of the end of March 1938. Furthermore, The Nanking City Administrative Office of the Nanking Restoration Government, which was established on March 28, 1938, registered 277,000 inhabitants. Japanese soldiers killed 300,000 Chinese people in Nanking city? I don't want to hear Chinese people stories which they hope.
