WOW your husband is lucky. I was desployed to Afghanistan earlier this year. I was working in an office where some Army sgt called me and the Navy gay, and after I complained about it, i was sent to see a pscyhologist who said I had pervasive development disorder and then the VA said I had adjustment disorder but I still had to settle for an honorable discharge from the Reserves anyway.....but you'ed think the person who called me gay should be!

@jns1953 Hello. We have contacted so many congressional leaders, including the Armed Forces committee, to no avail. My mom and his mom have also contacted folks. I've also been in contacted with a couple of reporters, but seems they want to wait until the outcome is reached. Thank you for your support.

Praying for you and your family. Truly sad that this could happen after serving so many years.
As quickly as possible retain the services of private representation, legal counsel that has a specialty in military personnel matters. If the Navy is trying to get rid of your husbands position, they should do it through due process. Fourteen years is too much time to serve and end up with nothing. At the least he should be retired with full benefits. Hurry time is of the essance. Paperwork tends to get lost or hidden with time.

@bamnibaum He had his board on August 22, 2011. The three high ranking military members of his board heard no witnesses and only my husband's testimony and voted to retain him. A win in our favor, so we thought. But, it's been 10 weeks since that board and PERS has yet to make a decision. It has nothing to do with the Navy doing away with his position. My personal opinion is that this is purely political and PERS is dragging its feet purposefully.

There si no way this is legal. The president signed into act a lawstyating the military cant force out anyone whos determined fit for duty.

@altaqqadum96 Unfortunately it is completely. It is common practice, and a huge miscommunication between sea side and medical side. Medical deems fit for full duty, but sea side do not have adequate facilities for emergency purposes. If the detailer cannot find orders for the sailor the sailor then goes to a board where a team of active duty personnel makes a recommendation to PERS.
