  • FF9 had the one of the best soundtrack in the final fantasy series.

  • Wrong! It has the best soundtrack in any game.

  • What version did Sakimoto make? Why, the FFXII version, of course!

What version is my favorite? The original FFV version, with FFI 20th Anniversary and the Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon coming in 2nd and 3rd. But the Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon: Majo to Shoujo to Go-nin no Yuusha version is pretty good too.

The FFXII version of Clash on the Big Bridge just seemed to lack the GILGAMESH spirit. But, having lots of spirit just doesn't seem to be the FFXII soundtrack's specialty.

  • @183Jonah What version of Clash on the Big Bridge? Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon: Majo to Shoujo to Go-nin no Yuusha's version?

  • @Harkz0r I've come to appreciate Tactics' music - most of it, at least - and a few Vagrant Story tracks as well, and Battle for Freedom has some good bits in it. I stand by my opinion on the rest of the XII tracks, however. I mean, Sakimoto managed to make a version of Clash on the Big Bridge that I DIDN'T like, which, since that's my favorite song in the FF series, is impressive in a totally awful way. The best way to describe most of XII's music is, in my opinion, the word "boring".

  • @183Jonah I haven't heard the soundtrack to Chrono Cross, and may undertake to remedy this, but I DO take exception to your labeling of Sakimoto's music as 'unimpressively dull' - though I do consider both FFT and Vagrant Story to be leaps and bounds ahead of FFXII.

  • @183Jonah I listened to those three songs you mentioned, best word I can come up with to describe them is "subpar." One of them sounded like generic anime music bullshit, one was bland and uneventful while having little to no soul, I can't even remember the other one from it not making any impact on me. :|

I'll give the game a chance in the future, but I won't go in for the music.

  • @FFFan3445 No, I meant FFIII. Eternal Wind, Crystal Tower, Dark Crystal, Aria Maiden of Water (Elia instead of Aria in the NES version), Boundless Ocean, Let Me Know the Truth/Pavillion of Doga and Unei, This is the Final Battle, even Game Over! FFVI had Dancing Mad and a few other good ones, but not my favorite soundtrack.

And how you could feel that Chrono Cross's soundtrack is subpar is beyond me. Scars of Time! Or The Girl Who Stole the Stars! Life - Distant Promise! Subpar? Hell no!

  • @183Jonah In my opinion the Chrono Cross soundtrack was subpar, FFVIII is still > FF9 in terms of just music, Final Fantasy 3's soundtrack is really bland(but Final Fantasy 6 has a decent soundtrack, maybe that's what you meant).

    `~`

  • @FFFan3445 In my opinion, Chrono Cross has the best soundtrack in all of video game history. Tactics and the Ivalice Alliance in general have extremely boring and unimpressively dull soundtracks. FFIX has a much better soundtrack than FFVIII, which is also pretty good - although FFIII might be my favorite soundtrack in the series. Can't comment on Legend of Mana or Silent Hill series, never heard any songs from them nor played 'em.

All completely subjective, just felt I should respond.

  • Why is there 1 dislike? is this some sort of joke?
