Ghostbusters! Review and longplay (or rather, edited into highlights - so a shortplay? Whatever! Otherwise this would have been nearly an hour long and rather boring!). A conversion of the David Crane Atari/C64 classic to the Amstrad CPC!

One last spooky Halloween treat (rather late uploading unfortunately, stupid video processing issues) ... this is good film licence for it's time and an original concept! Although rather simple and basic, it's still good fun and great blast of nostalgia!

  • thinking about it i remember the ghostbusters streams on the portal doorway and a it slowly closing - cant remember if you actually took part or if it was just the end game scene - defintly wasnt on another system that i am sure of.

the only think i am now unsure of is my sanity?

  • another great upload!!!!.....

  • I remember playing this, but on a green screen monitor! LOL

  • The movie was just fun & had a lot of heart .. i think this was brought into the game as well. As you mentioned its quite easy .. something that actually was quite rare back then. I recall the Darling twins (Dizzy programmers) mention that the reason their games might have been so popular was that they made their games a little easier than other games at the time. So even tho its a early game & its kinda "rough", Ghostbusters still really did everything right & is probably why its so popular.

  • Great video mate!

Even after all these years i wasn't much aware of how this game is properly played.

Your video is a useful guide.

  • This did infuriate me as a kid yet would constantly draw me back - probably purely down to the Ghostbusters franchise being popular at the time. Nice to see it again all these years later - can't beat those memories! :)

  • You could cheat on this really easily. Go to zuul and try and enter and it would drain down the clock/PK energy. if you dropped the ghost bait you would get the marshmallow man and the cash. do this a few times then you quickly make more money and can enter zuul very very quickly

  • I think Peter Venkman had a line about franchising the Ghostbusting business so it doesn't come completely out of the blue the game concept. Despite David Crane's contribution it does feel unrefined like more testing could have ironed out its problems. And persistent too since it was released on so many platforms basically unaltered from a design perspective. I'd write it off completely but I think there is a good game buried inside. ^_^
