I found a huge dragonfly when we had a short hike. I guess it is a very rare species. When I filmed the dragonfly, it was not alert at all and did not move no matter how close my camera had moved towards it. When I thought the dragonfly was dying, it suddenly flew up to the sky. What a beautiful insect !

  • those are the scariest things on the world if i see even a small 1 i run for my life imagine that in my room and im locked up i would probably pass out

  • @waterballon38 All depends on the viewpoint from which you see the world. Insects can be scary for some people but can also be the most magnificent creatures on Earth.

  • was it even alive?!

  • It was alive, i finally touched it and it flew high.

  • Nice about how big was it?

  • About 7 inches between ends of 2 wings.

  • @santor318 Im pretty sure theese big and long ones are called the "Mosaik"-species. I've known dragonflies my entire life since i was so fascinated by them and lived close to a little lake and i spent a lot of the time there. They actually eat smaller airborne insects like flies and flying-ants and so on, they eat pretty much every small flying insect they can catch. You found one in your garden because it seeks away from the water when it just get wings to train (they come from the water) :)

  • Dragonflys look so cool! they are like transformers in bug version. XD Especially this one when I saw this I thought it was a toy ;P

  • not ssuppperr big but nice. im in saskatchewan and they get 11 inches and come in swarms. but their playful and land on you and hang out.

  • I have been trying to find out what kind of dragonfly this is. I saw one exactly like it land on my 8" pot of geraniums when I lived by the woods near a creek. The wings spanned the pot width and the tail extended about 4" off the edge of the pot. The colors were exactly the same. I figured it must have been drawn to the smell of fresh cut geraniums as I was pruning the plant with a scissors. It landed and was perfectly still. I could have cut it's tail off but wouldn't do that to such a rarity.

  • @waterballon38 The Green ones.. especially only green colour doesnt bite.. its just like tickles... dont worry it wont hurt.. but with the blues.... it bites. so DW

  • It knew you were there. They were over a foot long during the cretaceous . They are only in that form long enough to mate, maybe 72 hours. Most of their life is pupa stage underwater.

  • amazing stuff , man

  • oh thats pretty cool
