You should really avoid this mouse if at all possible. Its great for a week but if you spend more than a few hours on your computer a day, expect major hand cramps from the un-ergonomic shape. Also expect to replace batteries every 2 weeks. Looks great, but doesn't make sense for actual use.

i need a new mouse. I mostly use adobe illustrator (especially the pen tool). is this a good mouse for that? or am i better off getting the standard apple mouse?

The only way Apple releases new products to the public is when I go and buy something at the apple store. So as a favour to everyone, I will go there and buy this mouse tomorrow, and within a couple of weeks Apple will release a new one. YOU'RE WELCOME!
