Similar to the 2009 festival, rain began this year about an hour before the parade was set to kick off. Last year, the rain fell before and after the parade but stopped long enough for the long trail of fire engines, horses, carriages, motorcycles, floats, cars and walkers to make their way north up Jim Thorpe Boulevard.
This year, Mother Nature showed a bit of mercy to the crowds as they shuffled down Main Street to taste a variety of kolaches, listen to live music, watch native dances and enjoy other activities, such as a carnival with games and rides.
