I LOVE the groove on this cover of a Randy Crawford classic. It's great fun to drum to, and quite a challenge if you happen to be more of a Genesis or Police type drummer.

As you will see, I took a few liberties on the outro, to make it all the more fun. Hope you enjoy.

BTW, it's just struck me that I don't know who the drummer is on this track. Anyone know? Or is it a machine?

Oh, and something else. This video seems to be incredibly popular - it is being viewed at an astonishing rate, comparable only to my Police Message in a Bottle vid. Why is this? I am confused! Are people watching the whole thing, or is it Shola Ama fans who immediately turn it off as soon as they realise it is just some berk on a drum kit? And if people are watching the whole thing, are they drummers? Why is this more popular than the difficult Genesis and Police tracks? I am intrigued......! :-)

Judging from the huge number of hits, but the very low number of comments, I am guessing that most people are accidentally stumbling across this drum cover, and then quickly switching off! At the rate it is going, this is going to be my 'most popular' video, except musicians are not the ones looking! Crazy.

  • I bet most of the watchers are drummers; the original Randy Crawford cut is a typical Jeff Porcaro 'signature track'. I'm not really sure if the drumtrack in the Shola Ama version is a sampled track. It seems to be.

  • @igonijenhuis Yes, it does have a lot of the 'Porcaro' about it!

  • You've got that right hand very tight in this song! Nice job.

  • @Liam3455 That is high praise, cheers!

  • You're welcome - you deserve it. Yes Shola's cover was divine, and I liked your drumming on this especially because whilst you improvised a bit you respected the song. Very cool :) can you teach us how
