This video will help explain why Yelp hurts small businesses and why the public should think twice before visiting the site for "Real Reviews" from "Real People". Please take a couple minutes to view this video.

Yelp.com seems to be an honest and true review page where people can go to get honest opinions of small business and restaurants.

HOWEVER, this is not the case.

Yelp removes positive reviews from any given companies Yelp review page unless that company pays Yelp several hundred dollars a month.

Leaving only negative reviews to be seen on that companies main review page.

In turn causing an otherwise good company to seem unprofessional or low quality due to the fact that ONLY negative reviews can be seen unless that company pays Yelp a hefty fee.

Another word for this is extortion.

  • This video speaks the truth. People need to boycott Yelp. The worst company of our time.

  • Yelp does hurt small business. I have had several good reviews, and they quickly get deleted, and the only one that is up there is a negative one. Thanks Yelp!!

  • They now place ads on the top of pages when on computers. So do a search for a business, they will place a yelp ad from a local competitor with a higher rating on top of your searched business. Guess what? They contacted my place of employment and said if we pay them a monthly rate they would remove competitors ads from the top of our page when our business is searched for. Seems like extortion to me

  • When it's smell fishy then it's a fish. The hard thing is to prove it and yelp knows it.

Does anybody know how to contact the FBI or the attorney general office to have them

    investigate Yelp? I hate crooks.

  • Jeremy Stoppelman is fucked

  • @stereomaster279 I got same experience.wow

  • Exactly the same thing happened to me. I have 13 good reviews, all filtered! I had a couple of good reviews on my listing until a few days after a yelp sales rep called me and I declined to buy advertising.

  • It's true, unless you are at a computer, you can't actually see the filtered reviews. If you are on a computer and you go to the bottom of the business's page, you will see a light gray link that says "read x amount of filtered reviews," click on that and you can still actually see the "filtered" reviews. It's ridiculous because there is this one business where I am and it has 4 reviews, all of which are filtered, but are positive reviews. wtf?

  • Fuck YELP! What a dumb fucking site. I hope they get sued for supporting defamation. Burn in hell!

  • yelp.com must be removed for net

  • I bet Yelp can't remove these comments, or this video. Now THAT'S an even playing field.

  • Yelp is fine. I think it's a great tool to level the playing field between shitty businesses and the customers they screw over day to day. The person who put this video together is probably an idiot.
