@55painterman You are so right...today there is no music...well I would not call it "MUSIC" what we had back then was music...no poking fun or swearing or gross crap to put it mildly ....whatever you call it!!..As for the killing...for what? Everyone is on a killing kick and no one is doing a dam thing about it...we would never talk the way people talk now, when we were growing up...This is not a happy place to be ...it's "HELL"

Forgive my rant, but I'm a child of the 60's and 70's (I'm now 55). It totally sucks that the younger generation today has NO F***ING idea as to what good music is..especially if a song sends a message. Instead, they're bamboozled into listening to this crap rap and hip hop. And what's worse, they want to copy their "idols" and be just like them right down to the underwear hanging out of the back of their pants that are practically down to their ankles. What a waste.

Melanie was simply the greatest female singer in her time, maybe of all time...

Probably the single greatest female song ever written & sung about the 60's. There's nothing cliche here, it's chilling, scary - yet uplifting at the same time. Melanie just soars over all the competition with this great song. She pushed the Beatles aside, the Beachboys, Hendrix, Janis, the Doors, Jefferson Airplane & Grateful Dead. Just dove over the tacklers and what's surprising -- the little girl is still standing in 2011. YEAH she's sill standing Rock & Roll Hall of Fame....wake up!!!
