@maw88ify Only if you want to run linux _instead of_ windows (it acts like a dual boot option, one or the other). However if you want to run ubuntu server and make its web server and mysql available to the native windows or Mac install, you'll need this, or see my more recent videos using VMWare workstation, fusion or Virtualbox.

@brucefulton It's better to install Linux Ubuntu with the Wubi installer , and then install vmWare and VirtualBox inside Linux ... it is a way better way to do this... and gives you way more power... plus Virtual Machines run fast in Linux...

@brucefulton I ended up using VirtualBox and it works great. It handles several versions of Linux. Ubuntu and suse are the ones I run most. I never was able to to get anything to run under Virtual PC.

I'm currently recommending VMware for power and features, but virtual box is a good free alternative
It freezes after awhile in virtual pc

Thanks for taking the time to put that together. I will be installing Ubuntu on windows 7 this week.
Previously I used a dual boot system but am excited about trying the virtual PC.
