@NimbleTurtle13 I never meant it should be interpreted as an exercise (nor a "simple exercise" of course!), but it was, indeed, an "exercise"; precisely regarding those elements you mention (harmony, rhythm).

As you know, Bach's "exercises" were far more complicated and sublime than some other composers' greatest works, so, there is not such a thing as interpreting something as an exercise, at least not in Bach. I was arguing in favour of Sanchez Ross's interpretation here shown.

@gatoz56 A simple exercise? Where did you get that idea. It's true that this should not be interpreted as a melody since the composition itself is purely harmony, form, and rhythm. But it should not be interpreted as an exercise either!

La interpretación me ha parecido realmente delicada y limpia, además el caracter que Bach le quizo dar a la obra es el de "dilatarse y contraerse", y eso ha sido muy tomado en cuenta por el interprete. Sin embargo, no me siento muy comodo cuando escucho este tipo de adaptaciones porque las respiraciones, por supuesto, no han sido cuidadas en la partitura (porque es para Cello). Cada vez que el interprete respira siento que se rompe levemente el discurso.

I desagree with the previous coment, it is perfectly played for me and this conception is very beautiful and stuck to what should be the prelude; Bach wrote this prelude as a simple exercise, and it should not pretend to interpret it as if it were a melody, or, as you sugest, "gusty", if you want to hear something gusty, I suggest you listen to the Gige from Suite 3 and see what is a virtuoso performance.

For me the interpretation is fantastic, it is well known that Sánchez Ross is a Bach specialist and he has dedicated virtually his life to the music of the great universal genius and not only as soloist player and flutist but as conductor with period instruments and with his group Collegium Musicum Bach, so I think your comment is not very scholar as if someone is gust is Moises Sánchez Ross.

No estoy de acuerdo con el comentario anterior, para mi está perfectamente bien tocada y esta concepción es muy bella y apegada a lo que debe ser este preludio; Bach escribió este preludio como un simple ejercicio y no se debe pretender interpretarlo como si fuera una melodía o como sugiere mas desafiante, si quiere escuchar algo desafiante le sugiero que escuche la gigue de la suite 3 vea lo que es una interpretación virtuosa.

This is played very sweetly. I think, though, that it needs to be more gutsy. Even the recorder can be much more dynamic.
