@matthewthecoolkid Selling out? In interviews, Julian said that being in a band, there are strict standards that need to pass ALL members to reach a whole understanding. Of course he'd want to do a solo project, something of his, all him. People change and grow, as do their tastes in music, which inspires them. As time passes, people and music go in different directions. Still good, but different. They're aren't who they were ten years ago, so why should their music be the same?

@matthewthecoolkid Then you missed my point, which was that I like Julian's writing style a lot on the first record, but not so much on his own stuff. I also wouldn't call it selling it.
So the sound changed. There's a difference between going in a different direction and selling out. Maybe you should learn it.
Also, how good music is isn't dependent on its purpose.

@hazuinf I don't find it weird. Julian became a mainstream sell-out and became the same thing he described as "unsuccessful" and "unattractive" in his 2001 interview with BBC Radio. The Strokes' first album was amazing the other two were "alright" and the fourth was a complete sell-out. I honestly prefer Little Joy (Fabrizio Moretti's band) more. Albert's music was good, only because he admitted he was in it for the fame and didn't care if he "sold-out because [he] would still have money". J/s.

Here I thought this might be a Beirut cover. :-( That would have been amazing!!!
Come on people, Julian isn't the only member of this band.
