Stepper motors here, not servos. This was built for a fantastic Italian client. If you would like more information please contact us via email: solutions@customentsolutions.com or visit: https://www.animatronicrobotics.com/
Foam latex: good for quick appliances and HUGE skins and some short-lived applications BUT be careful! Silicone polymers now are the state of the art and standard. Even when I woked at Stan Winstons all our animatronic skins (expect spinosaur, Trex, raptors) were a silicone base. Long lasting and much more realistic.
Thanks much. In general, stepper motors - while a bit more difficult to control -are much more durable than servos. CNC machines typically run stepper motors on XYZ, etc drives to give an idea of how robust they can be. In this case, this animatronic had to last for years without maintennance. Servos have the potential to be excellent for a year or so but then may need to be changed out.
Very nice! I love the beautiful smooth skull. Why steppers over servos? And what is the application? And while I'm asking, can we see it move and will this be foam latex covered?
