The JR Maglev in Shanghai is a Transrapid system and as equally safe as the german system as it is the same.

What do they teach you?

I haven't been on this particular maglev, but from my experience on others, I'll say no, sadly, you don't get to have that much fun and get squished.

Riding maglev trains, unless you're looking out the window, are in fact very boring since they're so smooth. There's very little sensation of speed since there's very little vibration or turbulence; if you've been on a really smooth plane flight, it's very similar, minus takeoff and landing.

There actually is take off and landing- there are wheels on the train that come down once the train slows down to about 100 kph. basically you have a take off and landing of one inch

German maglev has no wheels
