Actually, you can start a sentence with because; you just need to make sure that the senence has an independent clause. "Because it was raining today, I was late to work." That is a setence.
You can also start a sentence with "if." "If I thought everything in this video was correct, I would not respond."

And, or, but, etc are not defined as punctution. Those are called conjunctions/ parts of speech!! :)
