This is a GP9 CN train getting stuck on a hill, you can hear the sound of the engine, but it doesn't move a lot. It is not clear why they didn't take another engine (there were plenty on the other track), they just left the train here after a while ...
I shot this video in 1996, Niagara falls

  • He isnt stuck....they are disconnecting cars up ahead.

  • The engine isn't working hard, so something is wrong i'd say. bad connection with the slug perhaps?

If the engine were working hard you'd hear it on the noise this one is just revving.

  • @rslaser91 that's just a number i was told in training, who knows how they have modified some of these engines 1,050 RPM still isn't much though

  • @Graham987654 you sure about that? ive seen 1,050RPM before

  • @Graham987654 Today I had to boxcar a slug set and the slug didn't want to bleed off for some reason.

  • @GEES44DC all i can think of is a brake was still on on the control stand in the unit or it just takes a few seconds, setting up the train brake then recovering has worked for me a couple times, other than that I couldn't tell you, don't need to tell you how fussy these things are sometimes though.

  • @Graham987654 It was weird because the unit was set up for trail and everything was connected but the brakes just wouldn't release on it when we set the pack to a speed setting.

  • @GEES44DC it works for us all the time, as long as all four hoses and the cable are connected, there shouldn't be an issue

  • @Graham987654 You sure? I have tried it and it wouldn't release the brakes of the engine we added. We eneded up just cutting out the brakes on the second engine ... was just a transfer move so the engine was just idling anyway.

  • @acdcfan40 Regina!, I did yard training there 3 years ago, when did they finally get a beltpack, when i was there, it was one the last terminals to do everything with enginemen

  • @papabugs71 careful?, you should see the shit we do to them just to keep them running!
