first of all grunge came in 1985/86 with the melvins, green river,soundgarden..so you can't say that grunge did not exist before the 90's...and EMO just sucks, and Sonic Youth have nothing in comon with EMO..EMO is just a Mtv-corporate ''inspired'' music that puts a shame on other alternative rock forms.
