There is one error on this video that I want to point out: The title is not Life On the Fast Lane but Life IN The Fast Lane. I apologize for that.
This is the music video for the Dave Koz contest. This is not me playing but a music video to his song. So I'm basically lip syncing.
The story behind it:
Everyone that has watched it has told me "Man its dark I can't see your face." Although it would be easy to say it was just bad lighting I did actually intend on that. Being an actual sax player, even though I faked it here :-P, for the purpose of the contest and the fact that Dave Koz has a level on the sax that I could never manage to reach, I feel that the saxophone should have been the main focal point of this video. It is, after all, the sax that is doing the "talking". So I figured why take away from the beauty and complexity of the sax by showing my face? My body and hands are shown in participation with the sax in order to help it form the notes but the saxophone is the extension of my mouth and throat that has been thrown into a close view. I hope that people are able to understand my justifications with that way of filming because I believe it will grab a greater appreciation for not only the song but the instrument itself. And if you've ever seen Dave Koz play you would know exactly what I mean by the "extension of your throat and mouth" because he has such a strong bond to the instrument that it looks as if it is a part of him, which I believe it is.
The purpose of me playing the sax in this video was to hopefully portray through my style of playing, or rather "lip synching", just how this music moves me. I think Dave Koz would agree with me when I say that nothing is more thrilling than just letting it all out through one of the most expressive instruments out there and that being a sax player is, indeed, living life in the fast lane.
Enjoy and God Bless :)
