This is a video response, it's a short clip showing the eight-ball painted on the #8's tender at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, Nevada. The museum features equipment from the Virginia and Truckee Railroad. While #8 was never an original V&T locomotive, it did spend a year on the reborn Virginia and Truckee Railroad in Virginia City, NV in the 1970's.

This video, shot on Nevada Day in 2009, shows the #8 tender coupled to the original Virginia and Truckee #25. The #8 locomotive is down for firebox repairs, but the #25's tender needs work too -- hence you see #25 pulling the tender from #8.

  • The NSRM had the advantage of a model for rebuilding the #25 tender in that of Virginia & Truckee #27, a 1913-vintage Baldwin ten-wheeler that was oil-fired when active (she's now on static display). Pleasant surprise, Cooke eight-wheelers packing similar fuel and water capacities to the Baldwin ten-wheeler tenders of the period.

  • Awsome. I love V&T 4-6-0 #25. I love that engine. :D

  • Really cool!
