岸和田だんじり祭り 2010

9月祭礼 春木地区

14台のだんじりの弥栄神社への宮入りの映像です。

I went to see the Kishiwada danjiri festival.(Fall festival)^^

One of Japan's most famous and exciting danjiri(float) festival was held in Kishiwada, Osaka Prefecture on mid-Sptember again this year. The festival is said to date from the early 1700s when a local lord held a festival to pray for a good harvest. and the festival usually attracts about 600 thousand local and overseas visitors.
Each float is 4 meters high, and weighs 4 tons. In the festival, danjiri(floats) are pulled around the city at terrific speed by several teams of men. and the highlight of the festival is the "Yarimawashi" (corner turning). Done quickly to the beat of drums and shouts of the pulling team, corner turning is one of the most dramatic elements of the festival. In the morning on the second day, 35 danjiris divlde into 3 groups and go to worship at the 3 major Shinto shrines in Kishiwada.
If and when you have a chance to come to Osaka on September, Really must see the Kishiwada danjiri festival. I think you'll enjoy it!! and I'm sure that you'll have a good time.^^

  • Amazing energy! It looks a bit risky when they cut the corner at full speed, but I guess surviving the race is part of the fun.

  • @MrNadaname Hi, Thank you so much for your comment. So glad you enjoyed this great festival:)) Yes, they are full of energy!! and it's a little risky when the floats turn street corners quickly at high speed, but it's also the main attraction and the best highlight of the festival! :))
