This is a video of my cat, Ceili, being dive-bombed over and over again by a very aggressive mockingbird. I have set it to music. I don't know which animal is crazier.. the bird or the cat. The cat has never attacked the bird.. the cat seems to love the bird's attention. This has been going on for three springs in a row now. I apologize for the quality of the video. Much of it had to be shot through a window because the bird would only go after the cat if I was not visible.

  • Hi, can anyone tell me what this music is please? ; )

  • Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Scherzo)

  • mockinbirds do this when they have young in a nest , they are dangerous can peck a cat in the wrong place on its head or face and hurt it badly.

  • Initially, I was very worried for my cat, but she was obsessive about going out and would scratch at the door non stop until I let her go. Not only did the bird attack her for hours on end.. but the bird made that screeching sound you can hear right at the end of the video constantly. It didn't make for a very peaceful neighborhood.

Fortunately for my cat, she never was hurt.. but I do think the bird met his/her maker since we haven't seen it back for at least 2 years now.

  • well this proves that ignoring someone annoying doesn't help at all. they keep on doing it!

he lived, then learnt. I looked after a baby blackbird, then its parents found it again : )

  • LOL! Yep.... growing up.. you are told to "just ignore them"... ha

  • This is very common.. it usually means the cat is nearby to the bird's nest where it's chicks are. The parents will swoop down on any animal nearby which may be a threat... animal behaviour lesson over.. :)

  • I just love mockingbirds because of their temperament with cats

  • If this would be my cat, the bird would dive-bombed it only once..

  • I seen this a couple of times, interesting eh
