I have 2 wranglers (TJ and JK) and my wife and I are looking into another more economical vehicle for arond town. The compass fits the bill as my secondary vehicle because its a Jeep with good milage even though its just a badge with this one.

@gintonic1969 lol fair enough.

I love sins... and my Compass!
-
its capable, comfortable, safe, and affordable...but my god, it is ugly as sin...
-
they need to make a trail rated version...

Ths is an embarrassement to the Jeep name!

Also, I really dont think its 4wd unless it has a lever you pull on the floor, or atleast a transfer case (even if it is engaged with a button and servo). Isnt the compass front wheel drive, with a clutch engaging rear wheel drive??

the thing is real jeeps have solid axles, all the IFS IRS stuff is just the jeep brand giving into the masses. The whole allure of JEEP used to go anywhere while dealing with a rougher street ride. My passion is my daily driver lifted jeep cherokee, sure it dosent handle the best around turns, but for what it can do on the weekends its worth it.

you need to driving in 4wd to get those stats.

I have to say I love my Compass. Living in Buffalo, we get some nasty weather up here and it handles it with no problem. Moderate off road stuff is a breeze. This is my first Jeep and will deff be sticking with this brand because of its great handling and fuel economy.
I see often people complaining that it won't handle a trail. Of course it won't, which is why it isn't made for that. It's made to be an economical SUV with decent off-road capabilities, but nothing major like the Wranglers. In snow, heavy rain, flooding, and a it shows, sand, this will do just fine.
Sure, it's not the same, but it's not trying to replace it, it's intended for a whole different purpose. Economy with light off-road potential.

I'd like to congratulate you on making a sensible post.
My wife and I picked up our new Jeep Compass a week ago. We love it. In this city, we have long winters and plenty of snow. We also wanted to save on gas. This Jeep fit perfectly, and handled our deep snow as if it was driving on concrete.
