  • very true, and also Rumsey is so much better than Hill at guitar. Mute Math may be more accessible, but they will never be as good or creative as Earthsuit was, ever.

  • my life is complete now that i kn ow Paul Meany raps

  • Paul Meany + Rap + MuteMath = One Talented vocalist! :)

  • continued - As a bassist, that is the kind of natural as breathing creativity and ability that inspires me to collaborate in a song. His Earthsuit stuff was technically awesome and filled the songs. His stuff on COTS is far simpler, but amazing in what he packs into the songs. It is really hard to describe but you know it when you hear it

  • @sixstringalchemist - I was fortunate to see Earthsuit once and I missed part of the set. It is one of my greatest musical regrets. They were phenomenal and I was left wanting more. MuteMath is a good show, but these guys were completely off the hook.

  • I had a lengthy conversation with Darren at a show MM did in Boston. Even HE volunteered that Hutch is his hero and is on a whole other plane. I love the energy that Darren brings to a show, but you have to admit, it looks as if he is working hard to bring what he plays on the drums.

Hutch does all of that and does it effortlessly. Just the way he can play a fill, he puts things in places you didn't expect and are blown away that he did it.

  • As a lifelong drummer, I have to tell you that comparing them is like comparing Van Halen to Segovia on guitar. It's two different things. David may hit more drums, and may have more interesting ethnic rhythms, but drummers (like me) will usually prefer Darren because he is so perfect on technique as to be machine-like. David 's technique, while good, is not at Darren's level. Still, Hutch does some great playing for Club of the Sons, especially the live variations.

  • they're both incredible. david is more funky. paul is more speed/underground

  • thanks for agreeing with me. i have seen david do alot because i have seen him in concert live and im also his cousin. so i have been to his house and saw him tear the drums up. i have also seen darren live, and there is no comparison. darren is a good drummer so dont take me wrong. lol. but hutch is miles ahead of him hands down. and earthsuit is still on my top 3 favorite bands. they was and still are amazing.

  • he needs to do a rap version of a mutemath song, just for fun, and i am so happy that he started singing for real insted of raping in Mutemath.

May be you are mine in rap form?
