  • To continue Caulerpa has been found to spread quicker and more efficiently through fragmentation then sexual reproduction. If you are trying to prevent introduction of caulerpa to the Ionian sea I would suggest getting out the message to the yacht community. Caulerpa is very common in the aquarium trade. Finally if the ballast water thesis was correct, then the Caulerpa invasion in California would have happened in Long beach harbor, not in a lagoon with no boat access. Aquarium dumping was key.

  • Hi EcoCorfu,

Thanks for visiting the video. This PSA was made with two of the top Caulerpa investigators in the field and I even consulted with them about the issues you raised. Caulerpa was introduced to the Mediterranean from the Monaco aquarium. (the first site was right outside the water release valve) Also the secondary sites where not in areas that ballast water is dumped. They where in areas frequented by recreational boaters.

  • well I think I have some reference footage of you two acting I can post it if you want. I have to search my computer though. That stuff is old by now.

  • A under water grow of such a plant, cant be possible with a SINGLE aquarium release. It has to be incorporated in Huge quantities to be able to invade. The cocal Eco systems reject the spores if they are in small amounts. This is the Truth, my friends

  • This is a false theory. I am sorry to say. It is either ignorance, or, propaganda to cover the "BALAST WATER PROBLEM". It cant BE t be ignorance. The balast water problem, is known to be true to the scientists comunity. I will paste here the evidence if you let me...

  • HEY thats me i played the little girl in this when i was in 5th grade haha so funny, my mom was the fish to.

  • Damn right! I work at a fish and pond store. I can't tell you how dumb people are about this stuff. "Is bleach ok for my fish?" Go drink it and find out. "Do I really need a filter for my fish?" Well go sit in a bath tub for a week, eat and poop in it all day, and tell me how you feel. Thank you for the video.
