This is really marvelous playing, sane and balanced. Mr. Perlemuter refuses to accentuate the bombast. It's nice to hear this scherzo played in such a way as to bring out the wit as well as the passion. Very lovely, and in the best possible sense, a simple rendering of this great work.

You are right. This was my first acquaintance with Perlemuter! My grandmother had this LP and I think even today, it has one of the best recordings of the Ballade Op 38 and Tarantelle that exist.

What a Fantasic Pianist! i never heard about him before but i went to a cd store today to buy some ravel piano music and had a choice between at least 8 interprets. i listened to all just with one piece. and of course i bought his cd. it is so natural and beautiful. now i try to find everything he played and hanging on youtube...
b-moll is b-flat minor in german. b-minor in german is H-moll.
