Well when my Mom was pregnant with me my Grandpa always sang the Buddy Holly song to me and so my Mom decited to name me that my name was going to be Taylor and now its Peggy Sue:)

Not true, rocket 88 was an R & B song, not rock and roll.Bill Haley recorded a song in 1951...I can't recall the name, it was not a hit, but I would nominate that as the first Rock and Roll song.

Brian - True Buddy was declining but his records were not be pushed by his publishers. As for 'It Doesn't Matter Anymore' it reached #13 on the Billboard Charts. I would say that was pretty good. No one knows if this change in style would have kept him going.
