Recorded in Logan Square, Chicago, April 7, 2010 with a Kodak Zi8 and a Sony stereo mic.

Arrangement by Alfonso Chacon, inspired from the original guitar accompaniment of his friend and colleague, master Peruvian guitar stylist/genius Oscar Aviles. I recommend all guitarists seek out the original duet between Chabuca Granda and Oscar Aviles.

In one of the greatest thrills of my life I had the honor of meeting Sr. Aviles and performing this arrangement for him in his home in Lima, Peru.

  • Thank you! I don't have a score, just a bunch of crazy notes (mostly in sifras, if you are familiar with that notation - just gives the notes, like "2,5", and positions, no rhythmic notation), I learned it directly from my teacher Alfonso Chacon - uses techniques taught to him directly by Oscar Aviles 40-50 years ago.
