This interesting tango did reach the Icelandic final, but was not able to beat the other female singers in the battle. In particular Silvia Night.

Seriously, the songs in this selection were of a higher standard than the ESC itself!

I'm still mourning all the many amazing entries that year - and to think that the only truly AWFUL song and/or performer actually won. Makes me sad still to this day

Wish those great entries eg. this, "Þér Við Hlið", "Andvaka" etc. would have entered in 07or 08.

06 was a record year for Iceland in Eurovision in two ways:

A) The best entries ever to compete to be Iceland's entry

B) The worst entry we ever chose/voted as our contribution to Eurovision.

Pathetic on our part. Utterly pathetic.

@klarinetta Yeah, "Þér Við Hlið" was another great one, but my favourite entry was Guðrún Árný's song, "Andvaka" ;)

@Moo55 And yet my nation managed to select the embaressing Silvia Night. Never heard poohed so much at any act in ESC history. But I'm glad that I didn't vote for that silly Silvia. Regína Ósk got my vote :D

Ég sé geðveikt á eftir lögum eins og "Þér við hlið", "Mynd af þér" og "Andvaka". Ég er líka sekur, ég kaus Silvíu. Ég skammast mín, en ég lét blekkjast. Þetta var eins og Mr Bean hefði tekið þátt, það var bara mannlegt eðli að Silvía vann, því miður. Auk þess hefði átt að dæma hana úr leik þegar lagið lak á netið.
