Here's the third part, where I put the first walls for the room. I'm planning to make the room asymmetric, but it won't affect this part of the room (where it's gonna be perfectly symmetric).

For the next part I'll start work on the ceiling and some supports.

This video was done with Spark Build 127 & 128. Total time: 81 minutes.

The Spark Editor allows users to create levels for Natural Selection 2, the commercial sequel for the Half-Life mod Natural Selection.

  • Wow, some great improvements from the Hl1/2 Hammer editor. I like how you can design geometry on the 3d grid in the 3d view : ). The editor itself looks amazing. Not a big fan though of you dragging the brush verticies to angle/resize brushes... I was told early on in ns1 development that doing that could cause serious brushwarping and engine problems.. Nonexistent in Spark editor? Can I drag em verticies till they scream gorgie?

  • @Freedom21stCenturi Yep, no problems here. Any shape you want.

  • @Mendasp To be honest I expected a longer and more attention-giving response. Can't always have what you want.

  • @Freedom21stCenturi I don't know, it seemed like an appropiate response. This editor is very flexible and doesn't have the limitations of Hammer (which is something you'd expect from a modern editor), also, no leaks, no compiling, real-time lighting, so... yeah. I think all that is obvious from the videos.

And you can resize stuff with the resize tool instead of dragging edges/vertices, but it feels slower to me sometimes.

  • Great work Mendasp, any chance we could get some more videos of you working? I'd like to see how the room turned out as well.

  • I was a bit busy up until last week and I worked slowly on it (lots of going back and deleting/changing stuff).

I'm processing the video right now, so it'll be up today :)

  • Great! I'm looking forward to it. ^_^ Do you cover any of the changes the new builds have implemented?

    This isn't Hammer... It's Spark.

  • Very nice detail with great use of props and textures. Keep it up!
