When I heard the opening chords, I was like "Meh, I don't really like those voicings," but when she got to the second half of the verse, I was like "HOLY FUCKING SHIT." Sent shivers through my whole body.
This is, in a word, RAW. Completely different feeling than the John Cale version. His is more sad and reflective, one you might sing along to for fun, listen for pleasure. This one is so passionate and full of emotion that you just sit there in a trance as her voice washes over you.
