I have been working on a new guitar and have had a crappy cold for a few weeks so having Harmony withdrawal. I added a second guitar part . Same guitar but I'm playing a D. chord progression with the capo higher up.
Also in my quest for a guitar I find that I gravitate towards an orchestra style. In Martin guitar that is a body style 0M. My original six string guitar is my Martin. Body style OM. I believe it is an OM 28. I bought it new about 20 years ago. I've tried a bunch of different guitars. Taylor 900 series. Breedlove high end similar. I've been to boutique guitar shops and tried Santa Cruz, Collins, Foggy Bottom etc. Guitar Center has been best with some possible purchases. Those purchases were in the $4000 retail range. The boutique stores probably $6-$8000. Nothing has come close to my original guitar in sound. It is definitely my guitar in comfort as it has the widest fingerboard, a low-profile neck (my particular Martin which was entry-level in its day happens to have a very low-profile neck slightly better I think then the John Mayer model). It also has a smallish body. I did not realize this but it is essentially a Martin 000 body.
So in a guitar quest such as mine the issues are really the current body style. As to materials the next step up from Rosewood and Sitka spruce is Madagascar Rosewood then Brazilian Rosewood and almost certainly other more expensive changes in the soundboard with "special" spruce.
Finally relative to flexibility the other nice feature would be a cutaway to be able to play up the neck. Not that I'm a great guitarist but even at a minimum with a cutaway there is more potential to capo up the neck and still play. Someday and probably in my next life it would also be good to develop instrumental skills.
As I may have mentioned before, it is almost sad to end a guitar quest. It's more fun dreaming about what could be.
So I'm almost going to buy this John Mayer guitar I got at guitar Center. They are great outfit if you are trying to purchase guitar etc.
So here's the new wrinkle. My Martin guitar plays through a Fishman rare earth blend pickup which is the usual good pickup but also has a small condenser microphone. So when I check my guitar against others it is mainly a result of the guitar plus pick up.
So the new guitar did not sound very good but it has a Martin G. series pickup. That is meant to play through a mixer and the current state-of-the-art is the Fishman Aura Sprctrum. So I bought that and that is what the new because plugged into. So the rub is that there are a zillion "images" that mimic the soundscape of other guitars of similar style. So not only is the sound you hear the new guitar plus the new image is a particular one of probably 60 images that all sound cool. So the final question is should I purchase this guitar? Or is any similar guitar or cheaper guitar just as good?
Will have to see. It's a wonderful problem. likely to hold out at least until I find a cutaway version. I will plug in my Yamaha silent guitar and see if it sounds really good. I have a banjo in the basement. If that plugs inand sounds good I think I'll send my YouTube music to an engineer so he can just make the next pop idol.I believe I also have a recording of our cats meowing.I could send that too.
In song :-)
Just found this after sifting through all the unsolicited *^)*@$^)^$ stuff that on my page.
Anyway...one of my oldest favorites. Pre-teen garage party favorite. Excellent rendition...great new guitar.

@AngelBug514 belated thanks. Always appreciated. I know what you mean about trying to find stuff. It's a good thing my head is attached. Then again maybe not since it is not showing on my videos he could get lost it.
