  • It's funny to me how people love to criticize cops for doing their job. Whether you agree with the protest or not, there are always 2 sides of a coin. I agree wholeheartedly that people have the right to a peaceful protest, but they need to blame the higher-ups in FIU who are in fact the ones that asked the cops to make the protest stop. Remember boys and girls, every time you have an emergency, you dial 911 for those/any cops to come and help you. <3

  • @ladiiice421 take a look at some of my other videos.

FIU often has events which are much louder than the music festival would have been and you don't ever complain about those.

Of course people would be angry is their class was interrupted, but that was not going to happen. Please, use critical thinking before drinking the kool-aid.

  • Were those guys actually charged with anything or was this just FIU's upper authorities trying to strike fear in their students so that none of this will happen again??? Think people the men and women in uniform are just following orders!! Who is to blame for FIU students being silenced??! The same people you help fund by going to their school!! If you want to make a real difference become them then intellectually defeat them.

  • @dovemagic I was there. I will attest that there was not an announcement made to the assembly by police. When I was asked by an officer to help move the group, he never specified during his request that failure to comply would result in arrests.

"They" were never told to leave. I don't know where you get this impression. As an eyewitness I contest, no warning given, especially not a 5 minute warning.

Arrests began immediately after an announcement was made by a participant that we were leaving!

  • @premitive1 You seem like a rational/intelligent person &your comments are appreciated. I can tell you're as passionate about the event as I am. I'm a student and I was angry. As for the charges, I was merely pointing out whatever they could have/would have been. Also they were told to go more than once. Maybe not all heard, but it was done. You should be disturbed, as I mentioned, this was in fact in administrative hands the whole time. What's worse IMO is that they asked them to press charges.

  • @dovemagic " They were told to leave"

no, they were not told to leave until after people had been arrested. this is something i'm trying to make clear, there was not an announcement that the assembly should disperse.

What's more, the charges were interfering with an educational institution, not "unlawful assembly" or "disorderly conduct" or what have you.

I don't know who owns the school, it would be very disturbing if it's the administration.

  • @premitive1 Lastly, Miranda rights do not have to be read unless the person is investigated. What upsets me the most of all this now is that the cops could have released them right away with no charges. But FIU ASKED them to press charges..which they did. Shame on FIU all the freaking way.

  • @premitive1 Part 2 FIU decided that where the protestors met was unacceptable and they wanted them out. The cops enforced the wishes of the “owner”. Therefore no constitutional rights have been broken. They were told to leave and where to go continue. They also never requested such permit. They didn't so the police may go ahead and arrest. Now, we all know the good ‘ole charge of disturbing the peace/disorderly conduct is what they were arrested for.

  • @premitive1 Part 1. Interestingly everyone likes to bring up constitutional rights for everything. First and foremost, this is not about a single cop or department’s judgment. It’s wasn’t a routine traffic stop where a cop decides to give you a ticket/arrest you for something based on their own judgment. If you were on my property and I asked you to leave and you refused, then I have the right to get you off. I’d call the cops and I hope they did their job and enforce your removal.
