Scott Ian of Anthrax talks about the first time his band played L.A. with Stryper as openers. Heads were banging and Bibles were flying in this funny story about that show.

  • @fatsy77 please dont lie. Anthrax has a lot of cartoony themes and none of them have ever dabbled in drugs or alcholism or satanism so please shut the fuck up. ty :)

  • If anyone really would take the time to listen to Stryper, Christian or Not, you'd know that these guys are super talented. Everyone of them are terrific vocalist and musicians. They do have guts. They are not trying to cram things down people's throats, just making their own statement, like bands who aren't Christians do as well when they perform. I LOVE all music and Stryper is awesome!!!

  • Yesssss!!! God gave them a Limo! Jesus Rules!!!

  • @MetalliKatman I'm sooo jealous of you! This was 5 years before I was even a concept :(

  • Well, Stryper made a big impression on the bearded one; he recalls every minute detail about them so many years later!

  • I saw Stryper in NYC in the mid 80's. I caught one of those bibles! It was cool...

  • I was at this show!!! I had never heard of Anthrax. I went to see Raven, but I thought Anthrax was great and bought their album "Fistfull Of Metal" the next day. Didn't know that was Anthrax's first show in LA. I had my back turned the whole time Stryper was playing.

I also saw Slayer about that time at the Country Club. It was right when they released the Haunting The Chapel EP.

  • I'll never forget this. When Ozzy Osborne and Judist Priest were on trial for the fans that committed suicide. Scott went on tv and said "This is so stupid, I just want to go into the court room with a baseball bat and start busting some heads". I am sure it can be found somewhere.

  • @aezeon breakdowns for jesus

  • we played a few times with some ridiculous preachy christian metal-core bands, praying on stage before their set, wearing t-shirts with bible scriptures printed on them, its infuriating

  • @Rangerhalt1 but no one is.
