This is from Jennifer Saunders show with Dawn French airing on the BBC for quite a few years before the infamous Ab Fab. This sketch is the first time the two characters Edwina Monsoon and Saphey were debuted on public television. This is the sketch that launched the ever loved Absolutely Fabulous!

I wonder why Dawn didn't play Edina , and Jennifer play Patsy in the series? Jen was never really heavy enough to play the overweight role, but would have been great as an alcoholic, past her prime, ex-model.

The song "Good Life" by Inner City playing in the background... more heard at the end when she opens the door :) Love it!!

dawn french is a great actress and could've been a good saffy but julia sawalha will always be the best saffy, she portrays the role so well

at a guess 89 or 90? 89 maybe because of Eddie singing "Ride on Time'' by Black Box which was number 1 in that year.......
