www.flyingcarp.net Thank you to all who contributed to Kickstarter. We raised $18,000! But we still have a ways to go to finish the film. Please join us to celebrate Shihan Keiko Fukuda's 10th degree black belt by getting the film into the world.

Keiko Fukuda, 10th dan, is the highest ranking woman in judo history. She is also the last living disciple of judo's founder, Jigoro Kano. This is a 10 minute sample of the upcoming documentary film, currently in post production, "Be Strong, Be Gentle, Be Beautiful." Please visit the website: www.flyingcarp.net - the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/yurikoromer?ref=name#!/pages/Be-Strong-Be-Gentle-Be-B... - if you wish to contribute to the finishing of the film: http://documentaries.org/cid-films/be-strong/

  • 10 dan promotion for master fukuda !!!!!!!!!!

  • she embodies the spirit of martial arts.

  • @ronki23 Actually most of that has to do with a robust medical system and easy access to diagnostics like CT scans and MRI's so that early stage cancers are caught in a treatable stage.

  • @H0tkebab I'm sorry, I just don't see it. You see someone really special, I see an old lady who really enjoyed running what ammounts to a gym with a stricter dress code for a long time, and was in turn enjoyed by her gym members. You clearly appreciate this woman more than I do, and if she inspires you for some reason who am I to judge.

  • Not just because shes good at Judo, but because she went against the odds and stepped outside of the ordinary individuals comfort zone to make a change for the better. Thanks to her contributions and sacrifices she will be remembered and appreciated for generations and centuries to come.

Can the same be said for you or I?

  • @H0tkebab Yeah, she's a real inspiration because like . . . She was good at wrestling or something.

  • It is wellacknowledged that Oriental people, in particular Japanese, live the longest with limited health complications. Diet is one thing (they eat a lot of fish for protein & fat, rice for carbs and limit the sweets & alchohol) but the other thing is Judo. It's PRETTY DAMN IMPRESSIVE a women of this age does Judo-a martial art where people chicken out from getting thrown/where those in their 40's complain about their joints/how they hate to fall. It made her stronger. Is she CHUCK NORRIS' MOM?

  • Couldn't figure out if it was saying she was right or wrong in sacrificing marriage for Judo, why Judo required her to be alone, or whether it was saying men should have accepted her as a warrior, but didn't. Surely, she could have married someone.

  • @ 7:40 i cried...really...truly touching
