This is part of a testimony by a former "comfort woman" from Taiwan named Chen-tao CHENG (Tokyo, 2008). During the WWII women from many countries were kidnaped by the Japanese Imperial army to serve as sexual servants. Up to this date there is no formal apology from the Japanese government. How long will the pain of these women last? An apology by Japan will be welcomed by the international community and will help the new generation understand the pain the war have caused, and then make sure it wont ever happen again.

  • western countries colonized a lot of countries and don't apology.

japan colonized some countries and must apology so many times.

    why???

  • Japan doesnt need to apologize many times.... one time will be enough.

  • History can be changed. Dexcriptions in textbook are often changed.

Check Chosun Ilbo dated Feb.26,2009 and read column "Courageous Advice from a Retiring Historian".

Prof. Lee Tae-jin of Seoul National University...he added: "Korea's history texts need to be rewritten".

  • I see.

The history on the IIWW Japanese invasion and the comfort women issue of Korea, The Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, and China are wrong. Only the Japanese version of this issue is right, according to you. Oh, I forgot to mention that even some Dutch women were also abducted by the imperial army... but maybe they are just lying, surely their parents in Holland sold them to make some money....

  • Japanese army prhibit brothel owners to hire comfort women 16 years old. But some women wanted money and told a lie about their age, submitting forgery documents.

  • yeah right, I also get confused when I see a 12, 13 years old girl. If they don't tell me their age I would think they were 21!

Oh please, this is a lame denial.

  • Fukuoka City Council just passed a resolution asking the Japanese government to recognize and apologize for "comfort women." It is now the fourth local council in Japan to pass such a resolution.

I don't think it's going to stop with Fukuoka. I believe other local councils will follow. These local resolutions initiated by Japanese grassroots activists and NGOs are profoundly meaningful to all of us who care about the issue.

Please remember that George W.Bush made his speech at Riga, Latovia recently.

He admitted it was a mistake to sell Eastern Europe to Stalin's Russia.

Winner of WWII cannot be 100% justice.

  • Once Korean newspaper reported 12 years old girl was taken from Korea to Japan.

Korean people misunderstood that she went to Comfort station, but it was wrong.

Actually she went to the factory to make weapons, and it was same work required to Japanese women and children in the wartime.

Japanese army never forced sexual service to children.

  • Dutch people in Indonesia were rich and they did not have to sell their daughters.

But parents in China, Korea, Tawian, Phillipines were so poor.

By the way, most of comfort women were Korean, they say.
