  • yeah, I love basics and fundamentals....how often do you see fancy moves done in competition...ya know!?

Be sure to check out fight jungle.com

  • 20 years in Martial Arts all together, 15 years instructing....4th Degree Blackbelt in TKD, Purple Belt in BJJ under Junior Assuncao....now training with Master Ricardo Murgel.

    Hope this helps.

  • No problem...there are other variations as well. IF there is anything else that you would like to see or you want more explanations, just let me know. I will do my best to keep things simple and practical.

  • Other Videos are showing that you grab the other guys elbow (his right elbow)to trap the arm in tighter. What's the advantage of doing this way?

  • It prevents him from dropping his elbow to the ground which is a common defense. Another way to throw the armbar is to actually pull the right arm all the way across..using your left hand to keep his posture down, you can feed your right arm in between his legs and secure his left leg so that you will be able to perform a flower sweep or get a tighter hold on the armbar..it will keep him from running around your guard.

  • There are so many horrible... horrible videos on youtube showing techniques. This is not one of them.

  • I did this to day with my friend after school and broke his arm lol his parents were pissed

  • Well done mate, it helps! :)

  • good video! Very straight forward. I also like TacticalNutrition (Shark Bussade) armbar from guard

  • thanks for the tip of using your knee to keep his arm there SO USEFUL!

  • I don't like the arm/elbow control here. You can easily just pull your arm out with this. You need to control that arm better and just grabbing their elbow like that definitely will not work.

  • im a yellow belt in JJ and i still love to watch basic videos

  • @FIGHTMagJohnny .wow, thats very impressive, the instructors for my BJJ academy are probably less educated then you, well except for Kyron Gracie.

  • If you don'T control the arm at the beginning, he will drop his elbow or his whole to the ground and you wont be able to get the cross-arm position.

Since you don't need your arms otherwise, why not control his posture and prevent the arm from defending?
