  • Reputation systems are very cool but my understanding of the meaning of karma is a little different. My understanding is that karma is not about action but rather the intentions behind the actions. If you take an action towards me that you did not intend to be harmful, but I judged it to be, you will not suffer. If you take an action towards me that you intended to be harmful, you will suffer regardless of how I perceive your intention ...

  • @digerateur Wikipedia says: in Indian religions [karma] is the concept of "action" or "deed". It also says: Buddhism links karma directly to the motives behind an action. Motivation usually makes the difference between "good" and "bad" actions; but included in the motivation is also the aspect of ignorance such that a well-intended action from an ignorant mind can subsequently be interpreted as a "bad" action in the sense that it creates unpleasant results for the "actor".
