This is me, dancing with my fire hoop, and the first time I've decided to film it.

  • well...however impressive it is to wave a flaming hoop around, I wouldn't really call this 'real' fire hoopdancing. I would encourage you to continue exploring flow arts and such, they're all amazing. But before you graduate to fire, I would be a little more careful about it. It seems that you are playing with fire, and not performing. You could really hurt yourself or someone else.

  • Hey, I appreciate your input! I just wanted to let you know that I made this video almost two years ago! *laugh, since then, I haven't really practiced with my fire hoop, but that was my "thing" for that summer. With hindsight, I realize I was more playing with fire, I didn't practice enough to have stuff down. :) 'sall good!

  • that is terrifying

  • *laughing oh? you think so? :) Its actually quite exhilarating :)

  • Did you ever work for Maple Dell? I heard about you from there. James Ray is going to teach it to me this summer if their is time.

  • Yupyup! I worked at Maple Dell for 3 summers! I'll be up a few times this summer too (hopefully) Awesome about learning it . . . do it! It's so fun and worth it! :)

  • Um, where's the "dancing". I only see hoop jumping, and I've seen circus dogs do that.

  • not smart.

  • Nice Dude!

Just try to studdy dance more, maby take some contemporary lessons, they will teach you how to flow with your movement and perform :)

  • cool tune too!

  • cool,..

  • A few things:

    1) Get a heavier hoop. It makes for more momentum and you can do many cooler tricks.

    2) Learn how to idle. You're missing an entire spin.

    3) Use lamp oil until you actually learn what you're doing. It burns much less hot.

    4) Fill a kiddie pool with water or have sand/dirt ready to put it out. Not a hose.

Great effort! But you need a heavier hoop and more upper body strength to make it more fluid. And you could be a little more daring with the tricks.

    (Yay camp)

  • it would be interesting to see what you could do with some leathers, start hula-hooping it around your arm and what not. throws and isolations might be nice as well. keep on practcing and you might be on to something

  • Interesting fire toy. If you're not using kevlar wick, you might try it out. Please also tell your safety to use a damp towel instead of a hose; spraying water on a liquid fuel fire will only spread the flames, it will rarely smother them. Good job and keep working on it.
