This makes me hungry.....for sex.

Ribald & sensuous. So many great seduction scenes in movies and literature are preceded by a stimulating meal, and this is one of the greatest. I want to share a meal like that with someone special...

I love their candid and meaningful facial expressions in this scene. And all their gestures and the way they moved are very amusing to watch. But I can't help thinking that it must be rather uncomfortable to have sex after such a heavy meal of bread and soup, lobster, oysters, chicken, fruit, wine, and goodness know what else.

Some comments here show a lack of understanding. Not only is this scene original and intentionally suggestive, it is a metaphor for sex anyway. In 1960, the world was far less open to this sort of thing, and it caused some embarrassment and gasps in the cinema---I know, I was there. It was praised to high heaven in the New York times back then, because it was so -'Naughtie'---and they said--this is a must-see movie. There were some copyist films, like 'Moll Flanders' etc. but none came close.

1:30 He broke her big-V. XD

The scene is too long and drawn out.

The woman is Joyce Redman, not Diane Cilento as stated in the NY Times. Both Cilento and Redman won Oscar nominations for supporting actress. Tom Jones was played by Albert Finney.

@funtimegall That's why I looked it up too. XD inb4 we're from the same english class
Add to that that the movie audience believed the two to be mother and son, who were separated at birth and who didn't realize when they met years later that they were related.
