... Yeah, it was weird. I'm german and was always wondering about that. I guess they couldn't get anyone "better" for that night which is weird, since it was so historical!
People were insane about the down fall of the wall and didnt care that night.
But after that Hasselhoff was insanely famous because of that stupid performance that night.
