Making of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, often abbreviated "HHGTTG", was written by Douglas Adams for BBC Radio 4.

Adams claimed that the title came from a 1971 incident while he was hitchhiking around Europe as a young man with a copy of the Hitch-hiker's Guide to Europe book, and while lying drunk in a field in Innsbruck with a copy of the book and looking up at the stars, thought it would be a good idea for someone to write a hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy as well.

@20cFilmWannabe - According to Martin Freeman: No Sequel For 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy'. Here's what he said:

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ended with Zaphod, Trillian, Marvin and Arthur traveling toward Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

"There isn't [any possibility of a sequel] at this point," Freeman said. "I found that out from the horse's mouth, [director] Garth Jennings. I had dinner with him and he said [the first one] just didn't do well enough."

I read the first four books...haven't read Mostly Harmless yet. Maybe there are fragments from all books. I haven't seen the movie in years now, but I remember the movie starting at the beginning of the first book and ending with them traveling to the Restaraunt at the End of Universe.

This movie was only based on the first book. You're talking about the third book, and it's Krikit...at least that's how it's spelled in my version.

am i the only one who remembers the 11 kricket robots ( yes that's how there names are spelled ) from the books!? or how Marvin was trapped in a swamp with nothing but a living mattress to talk to? can anyone tell me if they remember this stuff !?
