The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, often abbreviated "HHGTTG", was written by Douglas Adams for BBC Radio 4.

Adams claimed that the title came from a 1971 incident while he was hitchhiking around Europe as a young man with a copy of the Hitch-hiker's Guide to Europe book, and while lying drunk in a field in Innsbruck with a copy of the book and looking up at the stars, thought it would be a good idea for someone to write a hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy as well.

  • do you know if theres a sequel

  • @20cFilmWannabe - According to Martin Freeman: No Sequel For 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy'. Here's what he said:

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ended with Zaphod, Trillian, Marvin and Arthur traveling toward Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

"There isn't [any possibility of a sequel] at this point," Freeman said. "I found that out from the horse's mouth, [director] Garth Jennings. I had dinner with him and he said [the first one] just didn't do well enough."

I read the first four books...haven't read Mostly Harmless yet. Maybe there are fragments from all books. I haven't seen the movie in years now, but I remember the movie starting at the beginning of the first book and ending with them traveling to the Restaraunt at the End of Universe.

  • @tosselina i know. well the robot didn't they went out to destroy the universe but the krikkiters wher on the planet cricket.

  • @travelinblues89 you are very wrong. This movie has fragments from all books, i'd say half comes from the first book. Dunno what version you read but its 5 books and not 2

  • @shyguy54321 i do. But the robots are Cricket robots and live on the planet Kricket

  • @travelinblues89 yah but i wish some one would trey to make a film ( or continue the tv show ) that involved something other than the first book

  • @travelinblues89

    Krikkit I mean...sorry

  • @shyguy54321

This movie was only based on the first book. You're talking about the third book, and it's Krikit...at least that's how it's spelled in my version.

  • am i the only one who remembers the 11 kricket robots ( yes that's how there names are spelled ) from the books!? or how Marvin was trapped in a swamp with nothing but a living mattress to talk to? can anyone tell me if they remember this stuff !?

  • That's what I love about this movie, it truly is as cinematic as possible. Amazing

  • Trillian is so pretty O:
