A Thai customs officials show seized ivory during a press conference at the customs office of Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on August 21, 2009. The ivory was seized from a shipment from Uganda and Kenya to Thailand and included 316 elephant tusks weighing 2,000 kg and worth about $1,706,000.
but with seizures like this, we all know that thousands more elephants are going to be killed to make up for the lost money. they need to change the culture of ivory purchases, or flood the market with cheap ivory or alternatives, to take away the demand. seizing stuff like this is counter-productive. and kill those f-ing poachers. i'd do it myself just give me a gun ;)
