the interpretation of gruberova in the wohle opera which i attended in munich was highly dramatic thanx to her big talent as actress. Gruberovas interpretation of casta diva and norma is number one: at causing giddiness heights in key g sublime harmonys it was for me an enormous pleasure to listen to her. the only thing i did not like were the costumes of the singers and of the chorus.

ia m not a musical expert and therefore as a profane i listen to all casta diva videos (callas, sutherland, caballe, sills, flemming, ecc.) and can say that the interpretation of casta diva that most pleases my soul and my ears is that of gruberova followed by poncell. with the gruberova i thought there is finally a casta diva sung with subtle delicate voice with a very beautiful timbre and not with dark and too heavy voices that i dislike completely. in the whole opera th

I'm most certainly not wrong. Gruberova never did La Boheme. EVER.
-

I was there too, dear, I LIVE there. Gruberova never did La Boheme. Which role would she do? Neither Mimi nor Musetta fit her at all.
saw Gruberova lst year in La Boheme at Vienna Sate Opera...just still one of the greatest

Wow... She was 59 when she sang this then. It's amazing how youthful the voice still is... and how she's still singing roles like this and Lucrezia and Lucia. It's too bad how some people have to always compare a rendition of Casta Diva with that of Callas. Gruberova is a different diva and has her own interpretation of the song. Thanks so much for posting this! :o)

Thanks for your wise comment! Callas was Callas. Gruberova is Gruberova. In my opinion the only two decent Norma of the last 60 years.
